Algiers, 1956. Fernand Iveton, 30, worker, separatist and idealist, is arrested for planting a bomb in the power plant he works at. Although the bomb didn’t actually kill or maim anyone, he is facing the death penalty.

Having suddenly become the wife of a “traitor”, Hélène’s life is turned upside down. Yet she refuses to abandon Fernand to his fate.

Based upon a true story, Faithful trawls back through Hélène and Fernand’s memories. It’s a story of love and political activism broken by the doctrine of “reason of State” that Fernand’s actions have invoked.
